Kickin Ass, Takin Names

No, not me. Silver, gold and crude are kickin ass and takin names. Do not get in their way.

Very, very strong day today. Great Comex closes, too. Here are your charts:
Crude is particularly strong. I was planning on $103 by Friday.
http://tfmetalsreport.blogspot.com/2011/03/crude-and-buck.html
I've gotten $104, instead. In fact, I have a high today of 104.32. I'll take it!
Again, this is nothing over which we should be rejoicing. Real people are suffering and dying in the Middle East. Regular folks are going to feel real pain at the gas pump soon...as well as the grocery store and everyplace else in between. BUT, if oil prices are going to shoot higher, we might as well make some money along the way to help ourselves cope with this "new normal".

I may have more later. I may wait for tomorrow. I have a sneaky feeling that Blythe and Ruprecht may have to hold an emergency, Saturday meeting, too, so look for that over the weekend.

Thanks again for participating in the blog. I hope you've had a great day and that your success helps you to have a fun and relaxing weekend. Turd out.

  3. Interesting take on Silvermex. Found at stockhouse:

I think once these guys, (and they are pros, no sense getting impatient with them) start drilling up La Guitara, and delineate the monster deposit they have there with the funds from the last PP, the share price will jack well up over 1.50$
At that point it'll be expand the La Guitara production to the 3500 tpd expansion as per Scoping Study (via another PP, or debt, hopefully debt), and then hit their stride, producing into a $40 an ounce silver price.
At that point, hopefully like FR, they will use proceeds to develop their other significant resources, and go down the FR road of self sufficient produciton and expansion. FR was masterful in their exectuion of their plan, and FR's Keith N. makes most other silver company management look like nervous nilly ditherers.

A close over $1.00, especially our $1.03 current is very nice :). The pieces are falling into place Ginger...

And, yes Turd, oil going up very bad for work-a-day Joe's like me. been telling everyone I know to keep tanks full. Been telling them since last year to buy silver, only one friend has listened and started buying recently!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  10. Is EXK overbuoght? I think it's the second time this week I've seen it lurking around 10% return? I'm at 42.25% ROI since I bought it at the dip!

So, Turd, do you think this thing is over bought? SLW and SLV are around 2.72% today vs 10%.

  13. I am very optimistic at this point. Of course, the weekend raid will take place. I am sitting chilly on the silver I have accumulated. Going to wait for 38...to buy some more. Thinking about all those poor saps selling last month at 28. I guess in the end, they have access to all of the info that we do...too bad for them.

  14. Thanks Turd for the good post and yes, much pain will be felt from the oil situation. Surely that is nothing to rejoice... yet the denizens here in Turdville understand enough about the forces at work to invest in the things that will help us and our families fill the tank, so to speak.

Thank you and the good folks here for helping us do that.

  15. Nice move today in Silver, getting closer to 36 and back on the trendline from last August. One it bases above 36 I expect the uptrend to slow - we'll be back on the trend going back 5 years. At that point I'll be watching closely for any decline, which will probably happen around the time the Bernank is forced to remove QE due to inflation spinning out of control and the masses calling for his head. A selloff in Silver will be the indicator that precipitates another huge crash in equities just like back 2008, at which point you should get massively short the equity market.

There you have it. That's my prognostication for today :)

This is a core holding, bought it last Summer in the .20's, sold it (like a dumbass), and bought it back in Jan when I regained my wits. CEO Ingrid Hibbard's track record with DGC and Pelangio's impressive projects in stable Ghana (Africa's No.2 Au producer) is how they were let into The Circle of Trust. Yeah, they're taking longer to launch than I expected but others have taken up the slack pretty nicely. When they do launch it will be well worth the wait

  24. Lot's of thoughts while looking at the charts and reading the comments.

If this site does get 2M hits a day, and even a small percentage of those turn into physical buyers, and with the size of the silver market, then this would move the market. Your new name might be "the silver turd".

This move through $35 seems bigger than Blythe. The dollar and oil moves are leading this, and are a strong influence on the PM prices. The rumbles in the ME are very concerning to TPTB. However, if Blythe is planning on a take down, I would expect it about now. I would be happy enough to see silver stay above $35. For now, at least! The thought of pain in JPM at $36 is a nice one. Let's hope, but that may mean a solid resistance level. Or have they lost control, completely? Is there really "no silver" in size, anywhere?

Lot's to think about in this move..

  28. @ Pat and Caramel – your TRE thoughts on the last thread are pretty much the same as mine. While it pure speculation on my part, I believe that TRE is going to be a huge long-term multi-bagger, even if it takes a while. Considering all that Sinclair has done over the years, he knows what he’s doing.

While TRE may have stock shorts “destroyers” (they will be destroyed if they stay short when the time arrives) and Jim may have enemies for whatever reason (crooks don’t like lights on), he will win the chess game. I have a feeling that Sinclair will sit on that Tanzanian gold until the TIME and PRICE of his choosing.

Is that $1750? $2500? Armstrong and Alf numbers? In the meantime, I’m adding to my shares on any decent dip. May never see 6.50 again.

If you're playing "balls deep" as I like to say with little cash or even going in on margin, please... PLEASE at least get some insurance in the form of some way out of the money major index puts. Do you know how much insurance even $100 USD can get you?

I'm not trying to call the market here and I'm not saying to not be in precious metal stocks. You NEED to be in precious metal stocks but we all know that shit happens and from my eyes I see the sky filled with black swans. These are fat tailed times my friends. Hedge accordingly.

Carlyle to launch fund for Africa

    By Henny Sender in Berlin
    Published: March 2 2011 23:21 | Last updated: March 2 2011 23:21

Carlyle plans to launch a $750m fund to invest in Africa, a continent long neglected by the large international buy-out firms, people familiar with the US private equity group said.

David Rubenstein, the group’s co-founder, has a reputation for being a pioneer in raising and investing money in frontier economies.

Mr Rubenstein was among the first buy-out executives to raise money in Libya and has oil money going into Carlyle funds from resource-rich African nations such as Angola.

The soon-to-be-launched Carlyle fund would be overseen by a team of three with a presence in Johannesburg, Zimbabwe and Nigeria, these people added.

Carlyle already has a significant presence in north Africa, as well as a dedicated private equity fund for the Middle East and north Africa.

Many parts of Africa are now enjoying better prospects than at any time in recent history due largely to a rush for resources led by the Chinese.

  68. Finally, the markets are in sync with reality.

Gold and silver up, because they are real money.

Oil is up, because it is the world's primary energy source and the unrest in the Middle East.

DJI is down, because oil is up and the real economy is not getting better but worse.

GPL was on too much of a tear to hop back in, it seems to have found some resistance since it stopped rising with silver and even backed off it's gains a little.

  73. Extremistan,

I'm not a big believer in PSLV, except maybe in a retirement account where you don't want to have to deal with all the bullshit of getting true physical metal exposure.

Let me explain. If you really want the physical because you do not have faith in the paper (and you are wise to think this way) then you REALLY need to have the physical or at least some of it in your possession.

Now I'm as big a fan of Mr. Sprott as anyone, but you did really just trade paper for paper there. The silver Sprott has is kept in bank vaults just like all the other silver bars held by SLV and the like.

Really it comes down to this. If you're just trading to trade then physical makes a very poor mechanism for doing so - paper and especially levered paper is where it's at. If you are planning on holding silver for long term asset reserves or for EOTWAWKI protection then nothing beats physical in your possession.

    Just my .02

  74. Loller,

Agree w/ with YC re: SIL. Look at the underlying components, very nice group of Ag players.

I'd just ask if you have an existing physical AG position. If the answer is no, please consider a 50/50 or other split of the gdxj proceeds btwn physical Ag & a miner you decide on. You should buy Ag each and every month if you can. Whatever you can reasonably afford. It won't be long until that gets harder and a whole lot more expensive b/c one of these days, metals premiums, never mind spot prices, are going to skyrocket. You can just feel it. What we're paying now are like gas prices back in the day: we'll look back in fond memory. Get as much as you can, while you can. To me, all the miner stuff is just the best way I know to be able to increase our physical holdings in the time before prices go seriously bonkers.

Guess I fall into the old-timer category, though I hate to admit it. I started buying physical in the late Cretaceous Period. Actually it was the mid 80s after the big run and crash, I was too poor to participate, that's probably all that saved me. Anyway, I started accumulating around $4-5 off and on over a ten year period and last bought $1000 junk halves about 15 yrs ago. Also bought gold at $265. Pretty much forgot about it and moved on to other things. I always believed it would be 'insurance' and hoped I'd never need it. Obviously, times are changing. I hadn't even looked at any of it til last year. Some of it has actually tarnished a bit, but its still silver and it looks better than ever!

I think the Silver Producers are heavily shorted.

  81. Who mentioned MVW earlier? That stock was up like 25% at the time and jumped up over 50%, currently at 45.5%. What's the deal with this company? I looked at it and it looks good, but not good enough to be jumping that high unless there are some secrets or it's a pump and dump. Waiting to see how it closes.

  96. Question for the Turd Bowl

I recently changed employers, and have the opportunity to roll over my 401k from the previous employer.

Any roll over recommendations that would include PM investment options?

A user posted the a link to goldenstatemint.com, anyone have experience with this entity? What does IRA certified mean?

Following the lead of the old timers, I began procuring physical (junk silver...franklins, mercs, walking libs) in Dec2008. ZH and GATA got my attention (in addition to Hank's TARP bazooka)

Not trying to say it doesn't look like a good company that has a lot going for it right now. It's just that I think most of us are used to seeing hot-tips performing average when we look at them, not blasting to the moon on a 50%+ jump ha ha! I was shocked by all the green on the screen when I viewed it. The stock appears to be chasing it's 2006 peak of close to $3.00. Definitely going to keep my eye on this one next week while doing some more DD.

  101. Justin, UCore: it is a good thing :-)

Ok Turdinista's, now that I've had a chance to watch all the parts, I want to strongly recommend than anyone here looking to branch a little bit into RE Miners will learn some key info about Heavy REE's by watching this video interview with REE expert Jack Lifton. I linked to it earlier but why have to go look.

Lifton said a mouthful: says likes UCore's Bokan Mtn over Molycorp's Mountain Pass for HREE content, cost of extraction, and the best single place to locate America's strategic reserve of the 2 most important (and most valuable) heavy RE elements. WOW. WOW AGAIN.

So which 2 are those you ask? For that answer, ya gotta watch it. Yes it's a UCore vid, but Jack Lifton is very well known in the biz. I learned a lot I didn't already know. Edjumaction that could actually make us money, how 'bout that

If you really want to get aggressive you can do AGQ on the way up and ZSL, the double beta short twin, on the way down. That's a bit too aggressive for me but you'd make a lot if you hit it right. BlogSpot's commenting software accepts some HTML tags, but it will not accept any comment that contains a word that contains underscores if such underscores occur as prefixes and suffixes. Hence, if you want to emphasize a word, you may not do so with underscores -- you have to use ordinary, HTML italics tags at the beginning and end of the word. WTF?!

    Just a word of caution.

HLLXF was a junior pump and dump by Bob Chapman. Just one of many. (he also recommended Capella Resources-look what happened to that stock.. 10-1 reverse split) We and others lost all of our money on Chapman's junior recommends.

We finally dumped Hellix after 5 years of nothing! You won't need the high risk of a HLLXF lottery ticket, with opportunities such as stocks Turd recommends. Turd is honest.

Now Chapman's recommending a stock that would be much safer, PXZRF, and he's joined the company of Jay Taylor and Doug Casey with this recommend. (damage control) But on private phone calls, he'll still tell you to put ALL your money in those juniors. He says he isn't paid, but I just believe this to be another lie.

Heres a link below that will help you understand my words of caution and warning today...

I'm just a lowly etrade guy. They're only so good with TSX too but sufficient for my purposes for now. I can buy miners from the US side or directly from the TSX or 4 other global exchanges using my global trading account. No real functionality after that tho- - for example you can't build watchlists using the native tickers. That doesn't help me.

Right now a little bit of homework makes finding winners pretty easy. Lots of it has found me some big ones. And Turd Town has brought a new treasure trove...

BUT, I am taking Kumanari's counsel above quite seriously.

Me too, though hope to be moving on soon. I started into stocks for the first time in October, with a subscription to Casey Research's Big Gold; I believe it may have been Casey who strongly recommended against the pink sheets, and for buying directly on the Toronto exchange with Canadian dollars.

(Other than one's cash being held in CAD, I believe there's other reasons to buy directly in Toronto, but don't recall what they are — if you or anyone wants to chime in on that I'd appreciate it.)

I've recently started buying on the NYSE as well, as there's no point paying their $19.99 global trading commissions for short term trades.

Among other things wrong with eTrade is that its interface and functionality sucks, and its navigation is nonintuitive and clunky; it appears the global trading was just an afterthought, tacked on without integrating it with the rest of the site. I gave up using it to track my portfolio.

For watchlists and portfolio tracking I'm using TMX Money, at least for right now. Simple, but clean and fast to set up and use; up to five watch lists for free, and price alerts to email or cellphone.

Regarding the advice I got about pink sheet for Canadian stocks, at least for stocks one intends to hold long term, (it was awhile ago, I was very new to this, and don't completely recall it), it was something to the effect that you're not really holding the Canadian stock, you're holding in effect a mirror of it with a US broker, and among other things might be less liquid than buying directly on the Toronto exchange.

That's a fair objection & I acknowledge my own bias towards Mr. Sinclair. Nonetheless, looking at this objectively, TRE has great properties & getting close to production at 2 of 4 sites and eventually all 4 will be rolling and the cash flow will be rolling. As for the shorts, looking forward to seeing how they handle this, other then letters to existing SH's. Do I believe Sinclair is stating the truth of what he knows of the Tanzanian gov't? Yes. Would I expect Sinclair to advise SH's of any pertinent facts/information? Yes. Could Sinclair turn out to be wrong about Tanzania? Yes. I'm still invested & will continue to buy.

I hate what Bob Chapmans done to destroy the financial lives of others. I hate his lies, and they are many. He took advantage of our ignorance, knowing our lifes savings were at huge risk. This was wrong. With his experience and intelligence, he knew what he was doing.

Unfortunately there are many financial casualities that he'll never mention on all his radio shows, and that's why I'm here. I'm glad you weren't one of them.

Imagine if you were on the losing end instead of being up 100K....but losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, your life savings, instead of your gain? Try if you can. I don't wish this on anyone. Except Bob. .

The link on Stockhouse (V.HEL) goes into details, and others misfortunes as well, for any interested.

A toast goes out to Turd tonight, for his exceptional character as a human being, his honesty, and great knowledge and wisdom that he shares so freely! Many thanks to him, and the others here who really care.

    All the best!

  165. Just thought I'd give a recommendation to read Martin Armstrong's Feb 27th paper titled "The World Revolution and The Markets" (link at my blog). If you take the time to read and listen to what's being said then I think you might get a fresh perspective on where and how things sit, where they're going, and how we all fit in. I'll warn you it's deep. DEEP. But it's very much worth it.

Now I'm off to hang out with some friends and get my drink on. This was a great week. Cheers!

  166. I missed it all today. I hear things went pretty good. I haven't caught up yet, but like I said yesterday, I think the EE has a ton of heat on them now and every one and their brother is watching them . Im thinking they are going to lay low, lick their wounds get things straighted out, before they decide to come back in and play .

After getting their butts kicked in February and the amount of buyers, Mideast turmoil ,the new york times, the dollar, ect I think it would be the smart thing to do .

Every body is going to start buying now, I even saw it on squawk box yesterday .My local bullion dealer is out of bars 1 oz 10 oz 50 oz 100 oz.That's telling me more people are buying than selling. He did have eagles though. I'm not saying there's a shortage, but the demand is incredible I really think the EE are going to lay low this month and cut their losses.

You know that saying ""once everybody knows its time to get out"".

Im thinking silver is a different story . The reasons people are in silver is different than why they are in stocks. Its Not just $$

Many people fear inflation and the weak dollar, and until that changes, People will continue to buy. So Im not worried that the cats out of the bag

I second that. This is such a great site. I hope it stays that way. I'm afraid that at some point Turd is going to need some moderators to keep it positive and to keep the trolls out. I do think "some" injection of politics is necessary, but when it comes down to left versus right, then the line has been crossed. We need to keep productive...

  170. With another good week under our belts, I just want to remind all the mining stock fans to spend some time on the weekend, identify your laggards, and make some cold, hard decisions about what to keep and what to cut loose.

Personally, I'm sitting on 22 names, about double what I'd like (but you guys keep giving me so many good ideas!), and I'm looking at 4 of them that are on "double secret probation" right now.

But leave that for tomorrow. For tonight, bask in the glow and enjoy a beverage. I am.

  171. @k

You are right, there will be a correction later this year, maybe down to the level you say, although I doubt it. But I can't imagine why you would sell your physical, unless you're just filthy rich. That silver bullion is going to be worth $150-$200 / oz minimum in the next few (as in 2-3?) years!

  172. I filled up my car with gas tonight. Cost me about 1.27 oz Ag. By my calculations, a year ago a fillup cost me 2.09 oz Ag. Inflation? What inflation? Gas is cheaper than ever.

Oh, wait.... I guess it depends what your unit of account is. There's a lesson in there somewhere....

Convert your wages from your job into ounces of Ag. Now vs a year ago. Didn't realize you've just taken a 50% pay cut did you? Sons-a- bitches!

  173. Physical is where its happening, make profit off your paper, shares and whatever, but remember physical is the real deal and should only be sold after a lot of thought. If you think this price is high see what happens regarding Saudi Arabia, this current price could look very, very cheap indeed. You are very right Turd, the world looks a sorry place and sad things are happening created by greedy people who are not satisfied with 90% of the wealth, they want 97 or 98 or 99,this has been coming for years, but don,t feel guilty about profits on PM,s,Governments and Institutions are seriously failing,we have to look after ourselves and protect ourselves from them.Have a great weekend.

  176. John Embry's comments over at KWN are excellent. Here's a snippet from the heart of it:

“The physical market is slowly starting to take precedence over the paper market. Historically the paper market dominates most of the time. In this instance they have been so abusive in the paper market, and kept the prices at such attractive levels that they have induced so much physical buying, that the physical buying is overwhelming the available supply.

That’s where the price is going to be set in the physical market and when that happens these guys on the short side of the paper market are going to have a religious experience.”

    Uff-Da!

I don't want to put words in Trader Dan's mouth, but it seems to me that this makes two weeks straight where Dan is openly questioning the integrity of the COT report.

  178. Hi Irene,

I don't know the answer to your question but realize that UCore was .39 as recently as 11/19/10, so a lot of buyers have had at it since the Chinese announced their embargo. In the vid Lifton points out the main focus of the embargo was the big 2 heavies that Bokan Mtn holds so much of (hopefully)

As the super-critical HREE supply is quickly becoming a strategic issue and national priority, I have to think that one way or another, the Chinese or Japanese would be prevented from acquiring a controlling stake in UCore.

On the other hand... in light of that scary "Eminent Domain" rumor, Beijing might just ring up Boy Timmeh and say give us Bokan to back all that worthless crap paper you sold us, you sorry ass round-eye scum.

With these soulless traitors at the helm, one just never knows anymore. Hopefully silver and gold break their backs soon so we can get real money back and be able to compete fairly as a nation. We're here now to help them along.

Real Money. Real Leadership. America Restored.

  179. Kissing Ass and Taking Blame

I just wanted to say I am so sorry for constantly manipulating the spot price of silver. I hope you all can forgive me. My tactics are no longer working so we'll have to try something new. Perhaps some further regulatory changes to tip things back into my favor. But I digress.

Now that we've kissed and made up, could you all please stop buying physical silver? Pretty please? I'm about to get into really, really big trouble and I would appreciate the help.

    Thanks,
    B

  181. My fellow Turdites, as I down a Cuba Libre, I salute you... what you stand for, and what you fight for. Seems to me the EE lost control in August last year. Yeah, they'll land a few sucker punches now and then, but that only adds to their karmic burden. Enjoy the weekend, and a big thank you to Turd and others who turned me onto my core holdings: GPL, EXK, AG, ISVLF, SVM, & SLW

  184. "You under estimate blythe & her craftiness. The short position is on paper only. They also have large physical position. While you might think they just cancel each other out - they don't. The short position was built to push down the price so that physical can be accumulated for below what would otherwise be a higher market price. Their intention was to make money by the selling the paper as the price falls (which they did). Gresham's law dictates that if the current market price is below the true price - it will disappear. Backwardation anyone?

Once no more physical can be had and since the entire reason to build the paper short position was to accumulate cheap silver - and they have accomplished that - the next step is to default on the paper short position. This has the effect of driving the physical price skyward while also sticking the paper longs with the bill for the morgue's accumulated physical long. Then when the price gets high enough they will dole out their physical hoard with an eye dropper. Pure genius.

They make money on both sides of the trade. Notwithstanding the lack of a moral compass she is a typical bankster.

This is the part of the equation the Ted Butler's of the world are missing. The morgue is a silver BULL in BEAR clothing."

Whether its China or BM, or even if EE are all of the above, bear in mind the tenet that paper is paper. Have a great weekend, all.

  185. OK, and part 1 of the post above is as follows:

First, a big thanks to the Turdmeister for continuing extreme awesomeness mixed with heart and humility, and to the gang here for more of the same. Looking forward to the comment box on the new Turd World... Just lost the last one (for the second time now).

I ran across a viewpoint from a fellow ZH'er that does not get mentioned too often. Along with advice to beware paper PM (esp. bankster-controlled ETFs), it is an idea whose time seems to be approaching rapidly:

  190. Salud,

If you put your whole life savings into a penny stock that is tragic. I hope you have learned your lesson! Because if you had the majority of your portfolio in his core pick's ie. AEM, SSO, MFL & G and the rest in pyhsical metal and just a portion in the speculative stock's you would be up huge. That is if you were investing with him as you say over 5 years ago. But I hope you have invested wisely since and are well on your way to making a mint! I guess we will have to disagree based on our experiences.
    Take care,

  192. Finished my blog with my buys from today and the run-down on both miners. Started with a physical silver update which can be skipped since Turd already summed it up nicely with a straight line. Gotta love seeing those! Sorry to say, I had to pass on hopping back in to Great Panther today. I know. I expected a drawback, missed it, and now GPL finished up almost 10% today. I got Ucore at 10% off though so I guess it evens out. Indeed, the cup can be half full when you look at it differently.

Though each comment here has a unique URL (the time/date stamp), a google site search only lands you on the main post, not the individual comment.

It only requires another few seconds to search that page for GPL (command-F in my browser, and I believe most or all others).
