No, not me. Silver, gold and crude are kickin ass and takin names. Do not get in their way.
Very, very strong day today. Great Comex closes, too. Here are your charts:
Crude is particularly strong. I was planning on $103 by Friday.
http://tfmetalsreport.blogspot.com/2011/03/crude-and-buck.html
I've gotten $104, instead. In fact, I have a high today of 104.32. I'll take it!
Again, this is nothing over which we should be rejoicing. Real people are suffering and dying in the Middle East. Regular folks are going to feel real pain at the gas pump soon...as well as the grocery store and everyplace else in between. BUT, if oil prices are going to shoot higher, we might as well make some money along the way to help ourselves cope with this "new normal".
I may have more later. I may wait for tomorrow. I have a sneaky feeling that Blythe and Ruprecht may have to hold an emergency, Saturday meeting, too, so look for that over the weekend.
Thanks again for participating in the blog. I hope you've had a great day and that your success helps you to have a fun and relaxing weekend. Turd out.
Scotia Mocatta is all out of silver except for some 1oz Maples. I'm sure it's temporary (sarcasm off)

I think once these guys, (and they are pros, no sense getting impatient with them) start drilling up La Guitara, and delineate the monster deposit they have there with the funds from the last PP, the share price will jack well up over 1.50$
At that point it'll be expand the La Guitara production to the 3500 tpd expansion as per Scoping Study (via another PP, or debt, hopefully debt), and then hit their stride, producing into a $40 an ounce silver price.
At that point, hopefully like FR, they will use proceeds to develop their other significant resources, and go down the FR road of self sufficient produciton and expansion. FR was masterful in their exectuion of their plan, and FR's Keith N. makes most other silver company management look like nervous nilly ditherers.

A close over $1.00, especially our $1.03 current is very nice :). The pieces are falling into place Ginger...

I am anxiously awaiting it to start moving, or so I hope at least.

Forgot to mention that the mailman dropped off a fresh sleeve of Eagles this morning. What a great day!
ReplyDeleteLong time lurker here. Have been following you since the first weeks of this blog and have to say, luv ya Turd!
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know is, GPL still a buy at this level. I've NEVER bought a stock. Looking into starting a Scottrade account because they have a local office nearby. Any thoughts...
Thanks !
ReplyDeleteThe bids, and trend is still very strong. I will hold silver over weekend.
@Turd: You are the mentor for the masses. Congratulations on your new found success. Free speech is overrated and I support your benevolent dictatorship If people are so smart, let them start their own blog.
ReplyDelete2006impaladriver - Where are ya, man? We miss ya!
ReplyDeleteBTW, for now I am all physical with a solid amount (for me anyway) in my hands, no paper!
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes Turd, oil going up very bad for work-a-day Joe's like me. been telling everyone I know to keep tanks full. Been telling them since last year to buy silver, only one friend has listened and started buying recently!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Is EXK overbuoght? I think it's the second time this week I've seen it lurking around 10% return? I'm at 42.25% ROI since I bought it at the dip!
ReplyDeleteSo, Turd, do you think this thing is over bought? SLW and SLV are around 2.72% today vs 10%.
Crude last is now 104.32. Shit.
ReplyDeleteExk at 9 will look cheap 6 months from now.
I bet I am the only person on this blog who literally sold his home in 2000 and put the entire amount in SILVER at $4.50..
ReplyDeleteI am very optimistic at this point. Of course, the weekend raid will take place. I am sitting chilly on the silver I have accumulated. Going to wait for 38...to buy some more. Thinking about all those poor saps selling last month at 28. I guess in the end, they have access to all of the info that we do...too bad for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Turd for the good post and yes, much pain will be felt from the oil situation. Surely that is nothing to rejoice... yet the denizens here in Turdville understand enough about the forces at work to invest in the things that will help us and our families fill the tank, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteThank you and the good folks here for helping us do that.
Nice move today in Silver, getting closer to 36 and back on the trendline from last August. One it bases above 36 I expect the uptrend to slow - we'll be back on the trend going back 5 years. At that point I'll be watching closely for any decline, which will probably happen around the time the Bernank is forced to remove QE due to inflation spinning out of control and the masses calling for his head. A selloff in Silver will be the indicator that precipitates another huge crash in equities just like back 2008, at which point you should get massively short the equity market.
ReplyDeleteThere you have it. That's my prognostication for today :)

Look at today's news release below and tell me (rhetorical:-) how one might think Pelangio would be down .01 today, between the news and the PoG. Granted DJIA -165 but all my others are flying. This is a core holding, bought it last Summer in the .20's, sold it (like a dumbass), and bought it back in Jan when I regained my wits. CEO Ingrid Hibbard's track record with DGC and Pelangio's impressive projects in stable Ghana (Africa's No.2 Au producer) is how they were let into The Circle of Trust. Yeah, they're taking longer to launch than I expected but others have taken up the slack pretty nicely. When they do launch it will be well worth the wait

TORONTO, Ontario (March 4, 2011)– Pelangio Exploration Inc. The Turd is not an animal?
Lot's of thoughts while looking at the charts and reading the comments.
ReplyDeleteIf this site does get 2M hits a day, and even a small percentage of those turn into physical buyers, and with the size of the silver market, then this would move the market. Your new name might be "the silver turd".
This move through $35 seems bigger than Blythe. The dollar and oil moves are leading this, and are a strong influence on the PM prices. The rumbles in the ME are very concerning to TPTB. However, if Blythe is planning on a take down, I would expect it about now. I would be happy enough to see silver stay above $35. For now, at least! The thought of pain in JPM at $36 is a nice one. Let's hope, but that may mean a solid resistance level. Or have they lost control, completely? Is there really "no silver" in size, anywhere?
Lot's to think about in this move..
@paulbain
ReplyDeleteThis blog has a habit of doing that. I suspect it was nothing other than a technical glitch. The other day I had to post something 3 times before it stuck. Finally it appeared for all to see. I've regretted it ever since. :)

SOOO glad I did not buy a house during the same time period!
@ Pat and Caramel – your TRE thoughts on the last thread are pretty much the same as mine. While it pure speculation on my part, I believe that TRE is going to be a huge long-term multi-bagger, even if it takes a while. Considering all that Sinclair has done over the years, he knows what he’s doing.
ReplyDeleteWhile TRE may have stock shorts “destroyers” (they will be destroyed if they stay short when the time arrives) and Jim may have enemies for whatever reason (crooks don’t like lights on), he will win the chess game. I have a feeling that Sinclair will sit on that Tanzanian gold until the TIME and PRICE of his choosing.
Is that $1750? $2500? Armstrong and Alf numbers? In the meantime, I’m adding to my shares on any decent dip. May never see 6.50 again.
Congrats on your success Turd. Do you follow Armstrong at all? What do you think of his bearish stance in the medium term (6-12 months) since your clearly bullish? Have a good w/e.

Silver is only up around 40-50 % here in Sweden the last year and a half! Sure it is similar in many countries.
ReplyDeleteWould I use this money to buy things in the USA it would be dirt cheap, cause then I would get all your currency depreciation also.

ReplyDeleteJust a wee bit of advice. Just remember that precious metal stocks will get beat down as bad if not worse if stocks go south. If you're playing "balls deep" as I like to say with little cash or even going in on margin, please... PLEASE at least get some insurance in the form of some way out of the money major index puts. Do you know how much insurance even $100 USD can get you?

I knew the future as you did and put 100 percent of my savings into the metals, starting around 4.75 silver and 280 gold. I have been a buy and hold investor since 2002. Nice to see another old timer here. Are there any others. I am sure there are. I actually started buying in the early 70's. Gave up until I began buying again 2001. So glad I did.

ReplyDeleteCarlyle to launch fund for Africa
By Henny Sender in Berlin
Published: March 2 2011 23:21 | Last updated: March 2 2011 23:21
Carlyle plans to launch a $750m fund to invest in Africa, a continent long neglected by the large international buy-out firms, people familiar with the US private equity group said.
David Rubenstein, the group’s co-founder, has a reputation for being a pioneer in raising and investing money in frontier economies.
Mr Rubenstein was among the first buy-out executives to raise money in Libya and has oil money going into Carlyle funds from resource-rich African nations such as Angola.
The soon-to-be-launched Carlyle fund would be overseen by a team of three with a presence in Johannesburg, Zimbabwe and Nigeria, these people added.
Carlyle already has a significant presence in north Africa, as well as a dedicated private equity fund for the Middle East and north Africa.
Many parts of Africa are now enjoying better prospects than at any time in recent history due largely to a rush for resources led by the Chinese.

Art- Turdinistas! He shoots, he scores! We will be sure to give you credit on this one, as that is one damn funny and perfect name.
ReplyDeleteExchanged part of silver paper to PSLV...but I still feel I'm paying too high a premium, does 18% seem reasonable, or will it revert to a lower value? Can't think it would be so high unless there's a comex default...
ReplyDeleteFinally, the markets are in sync with reality.
ReplyDeleteGold and silver up, because they are real money.
The dollar down, because it is paper trash.
Oil is up, because it is the world's primary energy source and the unrest in the Middle East.
DJI is down, because oil is up and the real economy is not getting better but worse.
Copper flat, because its caught between industrial use and commodities.
zzz28 and Pining - thanks guys, it just came to me this morning while I was...well, you know.
ReplyDeletewill be feeding the Turd this weekend. $35.59 currently on the screen...
ReplyDeleteEA, MVW has a nice balance sheet & already in the black. Had to do a double take on the # of shares outstanding - Under 10M - not used to seeing this :) Time for more DD.
Incredible day. I have 8 gold, silver and copper stocks. Three are down, three are flat and two are up. An amazing day and I'm barely treading water here. Is it just me?
ReplyDeleteUCore is having a sale for anyone looking for a last second deal today with great future growth. This is the one I have been waiting 3 days for it to drop, I just got in at a 10% discount. It went to 15% off and is now running a 13% deal. Also got my BULM today since it didn't show any signs of falling from it's 3% gain today. GPL was on too much of a tear to hop back in, it seems to have found some resistance since it stopped rising with silver and even backed off it's gains a little.
ReplyDeleteExtremistan,
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big believer in PSLV, except maybe in a retirement account where you don't want to have to deal with all the bullshit of getting true physical metal exposure.
Let me explain. If you really want the physical because you do not have faith in the paper (and you are wise to think this way) then you REALLY need to have the physical or at least some of it in your possession.
Now I'm as big a fan of Mr. Sprott as anyone, but you did really just trade paper for paper there. The silver Sprott has is kept in bank vaults just like all the other silver bars held by SLV and the like.
Really it comes down to this. If you're just trading to trade then physical makes a very poor mechanism for doing so - paper and especially levered paper is where it's at. If you are planning on holding silver for long term asset reserves or for EOTWAWKI protection then nothing beats physical in your possession.
Just my .02

Loller,
ReplyDeleteAgree w/ with YC re: SIL. Look at the underlying components, very nice group of Ag players.
I'd just ask if you have an existing physical AG position. If the answer is no, please consider a 50/50 or other split of the gdxj proceeds btwn physical Ag & a miner you decide on. You should buy Ag each and every month if you can. Whatever you can reasonably afford. It won't be long until that gets harder and a whole lot more expensive b/c one of these days, metals premiums, never mind spot prices, are going to skyrocket. You can just feel it. What we're paying now are like gas prices back in the day: we'll look back in fond memory. Get as much as you can, while you can. To me, all the miner stuff is just the best way I know to be able to increase our physical holdings in the time before prices go seriously bonkers.
bobsmith5
ReplyDeleteGuess I fall into the old-timer category, though I hate to admit it. I started buying physical in the late Cretaceous Period. Actually it was the mid 80s after the big run and crash, I was too poor to participate, that's probably all that saved me. Anyway, I started accumulating around $4-5 off and on over a ten year period and last bought $1000 junk halves about 15 yrs ago. Also bought gold at $265. Pretty much forgot about it and moved on to other things. I always believed it would be 'insurance' and hoped I'd never need it. Obviously, times are changing. I hadn't even looked at any of it til last year. Some of it has actually tarnished a bit, but its still silver and it looks better than ever!
Geez. If not for MDW (up 9% today), I'd almost be in the red. Holy shnitz!
ReplyDeleteCaramel
ReplyDeleteI told him to see if he could get some more info, I am still long and strong TRE. I mentioned dividends in gold certificates and that caught his eye.
Awesome bbdgoco, thanks for your story. I hope to hear from others like us. I only wish I had hung onto the stuff I bought in the early 70's, but I made up for it in spades the second time around. We have so much more upside yet to go as long as Bennie keeps pumping in the fiat. Yes, that's the kind of tarnish I love too.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only who sees a top in gold?
ReplyDeleteTony, I feel your pain. Disappointed a little in SLW, only up 2.48%!
ReplyDeleteI think the Silver Producers are heavily shorted.
Try as they may, but they have deep pockets.
Who mentioned MVW earlier? That stock was up like 25% at the time and jumped up over 50%, currently at 45.5%. What's the deal with this company? I looked at it and it looks good, but not good enough to be jumping that high unless there are some secrets or it's a pump and dump. Waiting to see how it closes.

My gut is telling me that SLW has moved from being an outperformer to an average performer over the past week. Just my 2 cents.

@Justin I mentioned MVW. This is not a pump and dump. Read up on what they have and buy with both hands. I know of an individual that's buying 1 million shares. My bid is in every day for more shares. I missed today. They just did a reverse takeover.

ReplyDeleteI have been hanging out here and over at stockhouse today..reading up on that silvermex board in between my work today. I was SO HAPPY to see my GGCRF close over $1.00 !! ...Yes.. this may be the beginning of the beginning for them. They are my largest holding and I so need to get some good gains rolling in from them. ReplyDeleteI recently changed employers, and have the opportunity to roll over my 401k from the previous employer.
Any roll over recommendations that would include PM investment options?
A user posted the a link to goldenstatemint.com, anyone have experience with this entity? What does IRA certified mean?
Following the lead of the old timers, I began procuring physical (junk silver...franklins, mercs, walking libs) in Dec2008. ZH and GATA got my attention (in addition to Hank's TARP bazooka)
Many thanks to this wonderful bowl of Turds...nothing like polishing a nice turd!

Dumped Kinross and bought First Mjestic a few weeks ago at the begining of the ralley. Smartest thing I coulda done. FR is up almost 6% today alone. Go silver!
ReplyDeletezzz28:
ReplyDeleteNGD reported great earnings yesterday, beat estimates by 35%.
EA,
ReplyDeleteNot trying to say it doesn't look like a good company that has a lot going for it right now. It's just that I think most of us are used to seeing hot-tips performing average when we look at them, not blasting to the moon on a 50%+ jump ha ha! I was shocked by all the green on the screen when I viewed it. The stock appears to be chasing it's 2006 peak of close to $3.00. Definitely going to keep my eye on this one next week while doing some more DD.
Justin, UCore: it is a good thing :-)
ReplyDeleteOk Turdinista's, now that I've had a chance to watch all the parts, I want to strongly recommend than anyone here looking to branch a little bit into RE Miners will learn some key info about Heavy REE's by watching this video interview with REE expert Jack Lifton. I linked to it earlier but why have to go look.
Lifton said a mouthful: says likes UCore's Bokan Mtn over Molycorp's Mountain Pass for HREE content, cost of extraction, and the best single place to locate America's strategic reserve of the 2 most important (and most valuable) heavy RE elements. WOW. WOW AGAIN.
So which 2 are those you ask? For that answer, ya gotta watch it. Yes it's a UCore vid, but Jack Lifton is very well known in the biz. I learned a lot I didn't already know. Edjumaction that could actually make us money, how 'bout that

Thanks Ray
ReplyDelete35.61 and counting. Where is Blythe today? Home sick with the flu???
ReplyDeletezzz28, NGD just posted their financial and operational results and they were good - link on my blog.
ReplyDeleteSwampfox, I love First Majestic! It's my second favorite silver holding next to the well loved by all Silver Wheaton.
You know what would be fun? Maybe we could get TF to put us up a vote or something where we all pick our favorite silver stock and we add the top 20 chosen and make the completely make believe TFSI (Turd Ferguson Silver Index) to see how we compete against the likes of GDXJ, SIL, etc.
I bet with our combined picking power we'd put up a hell of a good showing.

Check out Pretium (PVG) its made me 107% in just over a month and a half and show's no sign's of stopping. Its 42% owned by SSRI,SSO. My lottery ticket is Hellix (hel.v,hllxf) they are about to start drilling and they have proven drill results from past owner's. It is held in very tight hands. DYODD.

With muslim middle east day of rage scheduled for 3/11/11! I wouldn't call a top in PM's, food commodities, or oil!! All on a tear and today's move says, deep insiders know there's trouble brewing in the middle east!! Maybe UK/US intervention this weekend!! Make for a hell'uv a flight to safety in commodities; period MONDAY!! Be a sad occasion for the US families sending the best blood AmeriCON'd has to the middle east!!
ReplyDeleteYukon that is a great idea. I'd like to buy some more but nor sure where to put my cash right now. What do you say Turd? How about it?
ReplyDeleteShorties paying up now into the close HEE HAW
ReplyDeleteI've got 5:10 EST and check out these prices:
ReplyDeleteApril gold $1432.30!
May silver $35.63!
April crude....drum roll please...$104.97!
WOWWOWWOWWOWWOW!!!!!
For those of you looking for leveraged exposure to silver but do not do options take a look at AGQ, which has been mentioned here previously. It's quite liquid and provides double beta exposure to the silver price. I've been hopping in and out over the last few months and have done well. If you really want to get aggressive you can do AGQ on the way up and ZSL, the double beta short twin, on the way down. That's a bit too aggressive for me but you'd make a lot if you hit it right. Don't get them reversed though. ProShares also has comparable funds for gold.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks to whoever recommended GPL,GPR up 40% on that in a week, just wished I had bought a boatload more.

ReplyDeleteFolks, you would not believe what I just discovered regarding BlogSpot's software -- Its commenting system is buggy. BlogSpot's commenting software accepts some HTML tags, but it will not accept any comment that contains a word that contains underscores if such underscores occur as prefixes and suffixes. Hence, if you want to emphasize a word, you may not do so with underscores -- you have to use ordinary, HTML italics tags at the beginning and end of the word. WTF?!
ReplyDeleteGawd! It took me ALL afternoon to debug this problem! It took hours and hours! Jeez! WTF is wrong, BlogSpot?? Is your software still stuck in 1999?! Holy Sheet!

GOOD GOD! A 10 BAGGER?
General Question re UCore from a total Rare Earth's newbie:
ReplyDeleteI remember when China announced some months ago that it didn't want to sell RE's to Japan. If the supply of dysprosium is such an issue and if Bokan Mountain is the real thing chock full of it, why wouldn't the Japanese or Chinese (or anybody else for that matter) already have bought the remaining UCore stock while it was dirt cheap? Something is not adding up in my mind, so, what a I missing?
(Just love it. Word Verification = mookyan)
Paul: It IS a drag.
ReplyDeleteThe new site will NOT have such problems. I promise.
I missed out on this todays action. :( Ended my longs during the week in fear of a raid.
ReplyDeleteYes, keep a core etc etc, but shit, im a newbie. :/
Could i get some encouraging words to hold me together during the weekend please? <:)
Jimmy: Next Monday and Tuesday will be UP days. Blythe will attack on Wednesday and Thursday. You can get back in then.

ReplyDeleteJust want to say, you have a great site here. Very well run. You also have a remarkable ability to call direction and #s. I really appreciate your expertise as well as all the others here. I have learned a lot here and unlearned a few misconceptions. I too must thank the person who suggested GPL. Sorry I didn't catch the name but whoever you are, thanks!
Thanks again Turd, for all you do.
@EWC58
ReplyDeleteHey Chief, what trading platform do you use? I use USAA and it's not only kind of clunky and delayed, but it apparently does not interact with the TSX. I tried to look up MVW, UCOR and some others and it failed to find them.
Raising a beer to TF and the Turdinistas. Amazing calls, amazing week. Grab a drink of your choice and enjoy- our currency is being diluted to death and with it the accumulation of billions of hours of hard work are being flushed down the toilet, inflation is growling and about to prove to Barnanke that he shouldn't be 100% certain about ANYTHING, and things are about to get very interesting. If by interesting I mean downright scary.
ReplyDeleteSo enjoy the few victories that come our way- we badly need them, and we deserve to crow a little.
Gonna shop lots of emergency food and other daily necessity this weekend before Dollar heads to the inevitable cliff. Yikes!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ferguson!
ReplyDeleteI reckon you are talking about this week coming up? 7th. Will keep it in mind!
This bls report threw me a major curveball. For some reason i interpreted it as the results would cause a fall in PM. Guess i'll learn eventually.
Thanks for a great blog man. Will follow it until they take away the internets. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat summary TF exactamundo. Since petitioning our politicians to do the right thing has no effect, we might as well bet against them and get rich.
I a bit curious...where's F...ing apartment guy now!! Mister know it all seems to have left the building.

ReplyDeleteJust a word of caution.
HLLXF was a junior pump and dump by Bob Chapman. Just one of many. (he also recommended Capella Resources-look what happened to that stock.. 10-1 reverse split) We and others lost all of our money on Chapman's junior recommends.
We finally dumped Hellix after 5 years of nothing! You won't need the high risk of a HLLXF lottery ticket, with opportunities such as stocks Turd recommends. Turd is honest.
Now Chapman's recommending a stock that would be much safer, PXZRF, and he's joined the company of Jay Taylor and Doug Casey with this recommend. (damage control) But on private phone calls, he'll still tell you to put ALL your money in those juniors. He says he isn't paid, but I just believe this to be another lie.
Heres a link below that will help you understand my words of caution and warning today...

Have a great weekend everyone!
Thanks very much Turd! Your the best!!
F-it Im gonna sell a few monster boxes next week... this price action will not continue. We may see 40 but we sure are going to see the twenties also at some point within the next 12 months...
ReplyDelete@k
ReplyDelete"we sure are going to see the twenties also at some point within the next 12 months..."
Now would that be before or after QE3? ;)
SilverBlev: No. And I don't buy puts, either. I WILL liquidate longs and take profits when I expect EE attacks but I will not go short.
ReplyDeleteoldNavy,
ReplyDeleteI'm just a lowly etrade guy. They're only so good with TSX too but sufficient for my purposes for now. I can buy miners from the US side or directly from the TSX or 4 other global exchanges using my global trading account. No real functionality after that tho- - for example you can't build watchlists using the native tickers. That doesn't help me.
Right now a little bit of homework makes finding winners pretty easy. Lots of it has found me some big ones. And Turd Town has brought a new treasure trove...
BUT, I am taking Kumanari's counsel above quite seriously.
try pink sheet tickers: UURAF and MNVWF
Wildcat is WLDVF
Man, EA is keeping me busy: Jayden is PNMLF
Who else do you need?
"Again, this is nothing over which we should be rejoicing." Turd is a true gentleman for this comment and we should all keep the reasons for that comment in mind. Good job, Turd and my first drink is for you, man...

k,
ReplyDeleteyou keep serving 'em up, we'll keep swatting them back.
I will however reserve a very large UHaul truck in advance so I can back it up when I pick up my $23 silver.
k has a point. The next correction, depending upon the point from which it starts, could reach back to 31 or so. If it really got going, you could see 29.50. IF, however, silver hits 40 first, then the bottom would be 34 not something in the 20s.
ReplyDeleteTurd,
ReplyDeleteYou seem emphatic about shorting and puts. Can you elaborate on your trading philosophy?
Salud,
ReplyDeleteApreciate your warning and have a noticed that Bob has a few hater's and if I get burned on a exploration company(lottery ticket) I have no one to blame but myself. If you can't afford to lose it, don't gamble it. That is why I always do my OWN research. His picks have made me well into the $100,000's and climbing.
Your warning should go out to anyone recommending stocks, nothing is guaranteed and ALWAYS DYODD.

I know this is off topic, but someone just sent this to me (to prove there is no inflation after a debate we had) and it just pissed me off:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.businessinsider.com/food-inflation-in-america-2011-3
There are people starving all over the world (and in America) because they can't afford the food price increases due to Ben's unlimited money printing and this twit has the nerve to say that there is no inflation. I know, he is following his master... I just hope there is a special place in hell for him and his friends.

Me too, though hope to be moving on soon. I started into stocks for the first time in October, with a subscription to Casey Research's Big Gold; I believe it may have been Casey who strongly recommended against the pink sheets, and for buying directly on the Toronto exchange with Canadian dollars.
(Other than one's cash being held in CAD, I believe there's other reasons to buy directly in Toronto, but don't recall what they are — if you or anyone wants to chime in on that I'd appreciate it.)
I've recently started buying on the NYSE as well, as there's no point paying their $19.99 global trading commissions for short term trades.
Among other things wrong with eTrade is that its interface and functionality sucks, and its navigation is nonintuitive and clunky; it appears the global trading was just an afterthought, tacked on without integrating it with the rest of the site. I gave up using it to track my portfolio.
For watchlists and portfolio tracking I'm using TMX Money, at least for right now. Simple, but clean and fast to set up and use; up to five watch lists for free, and price alerts to email or cellphone.
Several have mentioned wanting to give a shout out to the person who lead the early cheer here on T's blog for Great Panther. ..If memory serves me correctly, that was me.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding. :D ...That person if I'm not mistaken was Scottj88. He has some solid picks and does quite a bit of DD to back up his thoughts on them. He never seems to mind typing out a looong post to give us all the benefit too.
Thanks Scottj!! Any others you want to share with the class in the future.. well, Bring It! :]
Reminds me of one of my all-time FAVORITE comments on this blog:

ReplyDeleteRegarding the advice I got about pink sheet for Canadian stocks, at least for stocks one intends to hold long term, (it was awhile ago, I was very new to this, and don't completely recall it), it was something to the effect that you're not really holding the Canadian stock, you're holding in effect a mirror of it with a US broker, and among other things might be less liquid than buying directly on the Toronto exchange.
ReplyDeleteHey, just wanted to say Hi to my fellow Turdlings. Great week Huh! Keep up the good work Turd!
ReplyDeleteLord Koos,
ReplyDeleteThat's a fair objection & I acknowledge my own bias towards Mr. Sinclair. Nonetheless, looking at this objectively, TRE has great properties & getting close to production at 2 of 4 sites and eventually all 4 will be rolling and the cash flow will be rolling. As for the shorts, looking forward to seeing how they handle this, other then letters to existing SH's. Do I believe Sinclair is stating the truth of what he knows of the Tanzanian gov't? Yes. Would I expect Sinclair to advise SH's of any pertinent facts/information? Yes. Could Sinclair turn out to be wrong about Tanzania? Yes. I'm still invested & will continue to buy.
Ginger, I'm expecting big things from Silvermex as well. Time will tell.
EA, you're the 2nd one that's mentioned JDN & have now 'forced' me to do some DD this weekend :) Appreciate it.
Scottj88 Thank you for the GPL, you da man! take a bow!
ReplyDeleteThanks to you as well Ginger.
You know what struck me this week: there did not seem to be a single EE attack as we used to know them.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that has anything to do with those new rules that went in place on Monday. I think we all read articles about them and probably did NOT understand the legalese.
I have read them a hundred times and I STILL don't understand them:
https://www.examiner.com/finance-examiner-in-national/tomorrow-begins-new-market-rules-for-short-sellers
But no raids this week says an awful lot.
Any thoughts?? Could it really be that simple??
@oldNavy
ReplyDeleteI was with USAA Brokerage until about a month ago, changed over to Optionshouse. Different interface but easy to navigate, quick on trades and much cheaper! May want to check them out. They (Optionshouse) sent out a message tonight that a new interface is out on the 8th, don't know anything about it yet though.
TF - thanks for the wisdom!
Happily Retired USMC
Just my .02
One other thing about the Tanzanian Gov't - they have a vested interest in seeing TRE's/other developments through - Sinclair mentioned they've helped build schools, hospitals, etc. Imo, mutual interests are at play here.
ReplyDeleteHey K .....go troll somewhere else.....you NEVER sell physical in this secular move......so my guess is the only "box" you have is the empty one setting on your shoulders....gl

Does anyone here have any insight into this??

ReplyDeleteThank you for your response.
This is not everybodys experience, but it was ours, and others. Had his name not been mentioned earlier, and the stock today, I wouldn't be writing.
I don't hate anyone. But here's what I do hate.
I hate what Bob Chapmans done to destroy the financial lives of others. I hate his lies, and they are many. He took advantage of our ignorance, knowing our lifes savings were at huge risk. This was wrong. With his experience and intelligence, he knew what he was doing.
Unfortunately there are many financial casualities that he'll never mention on all his radio shows, and that's why I'm here. I'm glad you weren't one of them.
Imagine if you were on the losing end instead of being up 100K....but losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, your life savings, instead of your gain? Try if you can. I don't wish this on anyone. Except Bob. .
The link on Stockhouse (V.HEL) goes into details, and others misfortunes as well, for any interested.
A toast goes out to Turd tonight, for his exceptional character as a human being, his honesty, and great knowledge and wisdom that he shares so freely! Many thanks to him, and the others here who really care.
All the best!
Just thought I'd give a recommendation to read Martin Armstrong's Feb 27th paper titled "The World Revolution and The Markets" (link at my blog). If you take the time to read and listen to what's being said then I think you might get a fresh perspective on where and how things sit, where they're going, and how we all fit in. I'll warn you it's deep. DEEP. But it's very much worth it.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off to hang out with some friends and get my drink on. This was a great week. Cheers!

I missed it all today. I hear things went pretty good. I haven't caught up yet, but like I said yesterday, I think the EE has a ton of heat on them now and every one and their brother is watching them . Im thinking they are going to lay low, lick their wounds get things straighted out, before they decide to come back in and play .
ReplyDeleteAfter getting their butts kicked in February and the amount of buyers, Mideast turmoil ,the new york times, the dollar, ect I think it would be the smart thing to do .
Every body is going to start buying now, I even saw it on squawk box yesterday .My local bullion dealer is out of bars 1 oz 10 oz 50 oz 100 oz.That's telling me more people are buying than selling. He did have eagles though. I'm not saying there's a shortage, but the demand is incredible I really think the EE are going to lay low this month and cut their losses.
You know that saying ""once everybody knows its time to get out"".
Im thinking silver is a different story . The reasons people are in silver is different than why they are in stocks. Its Not just $$
Many people fear inflation and the weak dollar, and until that changes, People will continue to buy. So Im not worried that the cats out of the bag
"A toast goes out to Turd tonight, for his exceptional character as a human being, his honesty, and great knowledge and wisdom that he shares so freely! Many thanks to him, and the others here who really care."
ReplyDeleteI second that. This is such a great site. I hope it stays that way. I'm afraid that at some point Turd is going to need some moderators to keep it positive and to keep the trolls out. I do think "some" injection of politics is necessary, but when it comes down to left versus right, then the line has been crossed. We need to keep productive...
Nothing like a 4% gain on the day, reading the Turd-meister, and a few sips of wine to close the evening. Bliss among carnage.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and a salute to the BIG Turd for not turning to the dark side. And for helping out his fellow Americans. Your doing a good service and asking nothing in return . Your going to reap it back in spades .
ReplyDeleteWith another good week under our belts, I just want to remind all the mining stock fans to spend some time on the weekend, identify your laggards, and make some cold, hard decisions about what to keep and what to cut loose.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm sitting on 22 names, about double what I'd like (but you guys keep giving me so many good ideas!), and I'm looking at 4 of them that are on "double secret probation" right now.
But leave that for tomorrow. For tonight, bask in the glow and enjoy a beverage. I am.
@k
ReplyDeleteYou are right, there will be a correction later this year, maybe down to the level you say, although I doubt it. But I can't imagine why you would sell your physical, unless you're just filthy rich. That silver bullion is going to be worth $150-$200 / oz minimum in the next few (as in 2-3?) years!
I filled up my car with gas tonight. Cost me about 1.27 oz Ag. By my calculations, a year ago a fillup cost me 2.09 oz Ag. Inflation? What inflation? Gas is cheaper than ever.
ReplyDeleteOh, wait.... I guess it depends what your unit of account is. There's a lesson in there somewhere....
Convert your wages from your job into ounces of Ag. Now vs a year ago. Didn't realize you've just taken a 50% pay cut did you? Sons-a- bitches!
Physical is where its happening, make profit off your paper, shares and whatever, but remember physical is the real deal and should only be sold after a lot of thought. If you think this price is high see what happens regarding Saudi Arabia, this current price could look very, very cheap indeed. You are very right Turd, the world looks a sorry place and sad things are happening created by greedy people who are not satisfied with 90% of the wealth, they want 97 or 98 or 99,this has been coming for years, but don,t feel guilty about profits on PM,s,Governments and Institutions are seriously failing,we have to look after ourselves and protect ourselves from them.Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteTurd, may I congratulate you on the quality of your analysis. I wish I'd discovered this blog sooner. As a professional journalist working in the MSM, I say you're streets ahead of my colleagues in your analysis of the economy and the market.
ReplyDelete@justmy02
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, I will be checking them out this weekend. Semper Fi!
EWC58, John97205, zzz28, et al: Thanks guys. This blog is the best brain trust I could ask for and a great band of brothers, and sisters.
It is said "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." Well I feel that Turd Ferguson and Turd Town is definitely the teacher I needed, at the perfect time!
John Embry's comments over at KWN are excellent. Here's a snippet from the heart of it:
ReplyDelete“The physical market is slowly starting to take precedence over the paper market. Historically the paper market dominates most of the time. In this instance they have been so abusive in the paper market, and kept the prices at such attractive levels that they have induced so much physical buying, that the physical buying is overwhelming the available supply.
That’s where the price is going to be set in the physical market and when that happens these guys on the short side of the paper market are going to have a religious experience.”
Uff-Da!
Trader Dan has new stuff at his blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to put words in Trader Dan's mouth, but it seems to me that this makes two weeks straight where Dan is openly questioning the integrity of the COT report.
Hi Irene,
ReplyDeleteI don't know the answer to your question but realize that UCore was .39 as recently as 11/19/10, so a lot of buyers have had at it since the Chinese announced their embargo. In the vid Lifton points out the main focus of the embargo was the big 2 heavies that Bokan Mtn holds so much of (hopefully)
As the super-critical HREE supply is quickly becoming a strategic issue and national priority, I have to think that one way or another, the Chinese or Japanese would be prevented from acquiring a controlling stake in UCore.
On the other hand... in light of that scary "Eminent Domain" rumor, Beijing might just ring up Boy Timmeh and say give us Bokan to back all that worthless crap paper you sold us, you sorry ass round-eye scum.
With these soulless traitors at the helm, one just never knows anymore. Hopefully silver and gold break their backs soon so we can get real money back and be able to compete fairly as a nation. We're here now to help them along.
Real Money. Real Leadership. America Restored.
Kissing Ass and Taking Blame
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say I am so sorry for constantly manipulating the spot price of silver. I hope you all can forgive me. My tactics are no longer working so we'll have to try something new. Perhaps some further regulatory changes to tip things back into my favor. But I digress.
Now that we've kissed and made up, could you all please stop buying physical silver? Pretty please? I'm about to get into really, really big trouble and I would appreciate the help.
Thanks,
B
Blather: time for Jeff "shortage? what shortage?" Christian to appear on CNBC and tells us all there is no shortage of Silver, repeat, no shortage, everything is fine, please stay in your homes and stay away from coin stores.
ReplyDeleteMy fellow Turdites, as I down a Cuba Libre, I salute you... what you stand for, and what you fight for. Seems to me the EE lost control in August last year. Yeah, they'll land a few sucker punches now and then, but that only adds to their karmic burden. Enjoy the weekend, and a big thank you to Turd and others who turned me onto my core holdings: GPL, EXK, AG, ISVLF, SVM, & SLW

Forget the really bad crimes, the really hard case repeat offender criminals are Coin Store Owners and their Customers, they are peacefully destroying the known world, bloody disgraceful, real organised crime if you ask me.They will be reopening Devils Island for us lot next.
ReplyDelete"You under estimate blythe & her craftiness. The short position is on paper only. They also have large physical position. While you might think they just cancel each other out - they don't. The short position was built to push down the price so that physical can be accumulated for below what would otherwise be a higher market price. Their intention was to make money by the selling the paper as the price falls (which they did). Gresham's law dictates that if the current market price is below the true price - it will disappear. Backwardation anyone?
ReplyDeleteOnce no more physical can be had and since the entire reason to build the paper short position was to accumulate cheap silver - and they have accomplished that - the next step is to default on the paper short position. This has the effect of driving the physical price skyward while also sticking the paper longs with the bill for the morgue's accumulated physical long. Then when the price gets high enough they will dole out their physical hoard with an eye dropper. Pure genius.
They make money on both sides of the trade. Notwithstanding the lack of a moral compass she is a typical bankster.
This is the part of the equation the Ted Butler's of the world are missing. The morgue is a silver BULL in BEAR clothing."
Whether its China or BM, or even if EE are all of the above, bear in mind the tenet that paper is paper. Have a great weekend, all.
OK, and part 1 of the post above is as follows:
ReplyDeleteFirst, a big thanks to the Turdmeister for continuing extreme awesomeness mixed with heart and humility, and to the gang here for more of the same. Looking forward to the comment box on the new Turd World... Just lost the last one (for the second time now).
I ran across a viewpoint from a fellow ZH'er that does not get mentioned too often. Along with advice to beware paper PM (esp. bankster-controlled ETFs), it is an idea whose time seems to be approaching rapidly:
so i am already long slw, svm, gpl but is too late to add to these positions and start new
ReplyDeletefor exk, ag, isvlf and others? what do u guys think?
trashcan: have a look at Artha Resources ATHCF. It's a precious metal + rare earth + uranium combo play. Projects are in Argentina and US.
ReplyDeleteIt's speculative, so do your DD.
Scott or whoever,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you folks think about great panther? I like how they are offering actual silver bullions. Anyone order from them?
Any target? i missed out on good convo.
-Again, i appreciate the folks here. =)
@ewc58
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to type up your comments. I'll keep digging this weekend. ;)
Salud,
ReplyDeleteIf you put your whole life savings into a penny stock that is tragic. I hope you have learned your lesson! Because if you had the majority of your portfolio in his core pick's ie. AEM, SSO, MFL & G and the rest in pyhsical metal and just a portion in the speculative stock's you would be up huge. That is if you were investing with him as you say over 5 years ago. But I hope you have invested wisely since and are well on your way to making a mint! I guess we will have to disagree based on our experiences.
Take care,
Schnitz
tpbeta: A hearty and sincere "thank you" from yours truly.
ReplyDeleteHaving dealt with the MSM a few times over the years, I am pleased to see you echo my sentiments regarding your cohorts.
Welcome to the blog. Have a great weekend! TF
Finished my blog with my buys from today and the run-down on both miners. Started with a physical silver update which can be skipped since Turd already summed it up nicely with a straight line. Gotta love seeing those! Sorry to say, I had to pass on hopping back in to Great Panther today. I know. I expected a drawback, missed it, and now GPL finished up almost 10% today. I got Ucore at 10% off though so I guess it evens out. Indeed, the cup can be half full when you look at it differently.

If by the first sentence you're referring to buying the stock, I think quite highly of them as I made 9.64% since buying some yesterday ;-), thanks to much discussion here, as well as this post and this post on Justin's blog (who also posts here regularly).
Here's the google pages that result from searching this site for GPL.

ReplyDeleteThough each comment here has a unique URL (the time/date stamp), a google site search only lands you on the main post, not the individual comment.
It only requires another few seconds to search that page for GPL (command-F in my browser, and I believe most or all others).
Ha ha, my telepathy is on point tonight John. Now if I could just get a grip on the telekinesis thing all my worries about how to acquire more silver would be over. I would loot the Comex from a sandy beach in Antigua while sipping on a Mojito and reading Turds blog.

I'm greedy. I live 20 minutes from Virginia Beach and it's not good enough. I've got a case of "the bankster blues" I suppose.
